• All's looking good for Factory on 5 to be back on the ABQ First Friday's Arts Crawl by early 2009. We will of course be pulling out all the stops for that one... not like we really have too many stops around here for much of anything but... Details here as we know them.

• The Factory's Thursday night at the movies has wound down for the summer. Try to catch it next summer if you happen to be bored on a Thursday night. Jerry pulls down this gigantic projection screen over the whole front of the building (well, over that big gray door to be exact) and they project movies and drink things and heckle things. It's quite fun and not to be missed so mark your calendars now for next June when it all starts up again.

• Classes in jewelry making, metal work, life drawing, tile making and about umpteen other things that I don't even know about are starting and ending all the time go to FACTORY on 5 for more info or just call Jerry (probably easiest) the info's on their web site.

Robert Redus (master painter lately turned amature electrician - he tried to kill me yesterday but now's not the time to go into it) and I are in the process of planning a HUGE - you could even say, BLOWOUT!!! Original Art Studio Sale for some Saturday soon. Plans are still in the works but as soon as there are any details to report I'll post them here.

Some of the other artists are interested and we're thinking of setting up some tents outside of our large studio door. And yeah, we're even thinking hot dogs... try to stay calm, no promises.

If it's a success we're thinking once a month would be fun to have it - I don't know if the hot dogs will be a flagship thing or if we'll have them every month - it's too early to tell. Check back we'll have details soon.

:: NEWS ::

I have never formally introduced our new Studio Manager Extrordinaire - Destiny Montoya. She has taken over handling all of the business affairs for me like shipping, finding packages the post office loses, packing up the paintings, logging and keeping track of the paintings, answering emails, answering questions, ordering things, delivering things, picking up things, making sure I know what I'm supposed to be doing and when and where I'm supposed to be doing it.

She's been doing all of this since May and a lot of you have already had the pleasure of meeting her but I just wanted to let everyone know that she's going to be handling a lot more of the load around here so I can get more painting done.

For the past few months I've been spending far more time doing all of the above than I was painting and I really needed to get back to what I do best and as most of you know, what I do best does not involve any type of organizational skills of any kind.

As always if there is something that you need to talk to me about I'm as available as ever, it's just that I need more time in the studio to paint. And trust me on this one, Dest always knows more about what's going on around here than I do.

And of course we would like to introduce our two new studio interns. They'll be helping me with the painting... I'm sure you'll be noticing a marked improvement in my craftsmanship.

Destiny's two girls Arianna (3 - below) and Audrey (2 - right) have become quite a fixture around the studio - often helping out... as you can see...

They both are of the mind that there's nothing in life that a little pink or maybe purple can't fix...

This is how it always starts... 'Miss Jenny can I paint with you?' Look at that face. I mean... so of course I get them brushes and containers of paint even though I know how this is going to end... oh, like you wouldn't?

They both always start out painting so nicely...

and all's fine till Audrey starts painting her hands...

and her feet...

This is where you really count on big sister Anna to show some guidance... well maybe not.

By now things are just out of hand... the adults have left the building.

Here's where it always ends. Mom has gone to get the hose. Can you believe this is the same sweet child?

I called her little sugar once so now she calls me big sugar. Love, love, love these two, They crack me up!
